Terroir

An exceptional terroir at the edge of the Gardon River

binary comment

It’s in the Gard department, at the heart of the Uzege Valley, that is situated the Domaine de La Tour. The vineyard is planted in a prestigious terroir, essence of the Mediterranean landscapes, exposed on the left side of the Gardon River. The local geology shows different formations drawing a terroir of high potentiality. Work in the vineyard and winemaking are conducted with the greatest care and each generation contributes their own skills. The vineyard’s area is 103 hectares of hills and plains on chalky-clayey and rocky grounds bringing a good drainage of the water. The reliefs which isolate the vineyard also strengthen the Mediterranean character of the climate. The high difference of temperature during summer days and the freshness of nights favors the concentration and the maturation of grapes. Its allows elaboration of elegant and aromatic wines. So many elements we try to tame to assert and deepen the character and the balance of our wines.

Know how

Our know-how anchored for generations

During the year, we take a very good care of the vines, a lot of work is done by us with the greatest care, as to produce high quality wines.

We start to prune the vines which is essential to his growth.

We spread compost and enrich the soil by manures and with nutritives elements, then we dig compost into the soil in order to facilitate microbial life.

Disbudding is made by hand. It relieves the vine and enables regulation of the production as to favor a good growth of the grapes and a perfect mellowing of the berries.

Harvest is mecanical.

Whether on whites, rosés or reds, we apply ourselves to use winemaking methods always respecting the product.

The processes used, such as temperature control, allow us to obtain concentration, power, freshness and aromatic complexity in our wines.

That’s why on our whites and rosés, we prefer a thermo-regulated fermentation to keep freshness, acidity and the primary aromas of each grape variety.

Thanks to all his attentions, the wines affirm a true identity of the Duchy and a personality specific to the domain
